Getting to know a potential new partner is unlike any experience in human relationships. We get to know new people all the time, but compatibility and harmony are never as important as they are when the person is someone you might one day consider sharing a life with.
Meanwhile, in these crazy days of dating, it seems every move we make, every move they make, teeters on the rails between crucial and irrelevent. He hates candy. I'm a chocolate addict. This will never work! That may seem a little extreme, and it is, but not as off the mark as one may think.

I started dating D a few months back. We've survived a couple holidays, a couple fights, we've achieved some milestones. I was thinking about how much I learn about him everyday, how different and the same he is to me, when I look back to that first night. Being a writer and a serial thinker, the blog was born. Maybe you'll watch D come and go. Maybe I'll 'get to know' some other lucky man. Maybe D will be the one. The outcome is not the point.
